Open Innovation Grant Program

At Salvo Technologies, we recognize that effective research and development does not take place in isolation. Meaningful advances to our core technologies and related areas may be underway outside of our four walls. We also understand the need to provide resources to support those advances. That’s why Salvo has established a research grant program in keeping with the philosophy of open innovation. With the complexity of today’s technology and the speed of change, companies need to take a broader view of R&D that encompasses the larger community. Open innovation recognizes the value and, increasingly, the necessity of open, collaborative development, as exemplified by the Linux project. Our approach is to foster research that presents synergies with our product lines and the needs of our customer base. Through our Salvo Grant program, we award grants annually to support individuals and organizations pursuing promising projects ranging from basic science to late-stage development. This work is funded with no strings attached, although success brings with it the opportunity to partner with us for future advancement. We award funding in three rounds, subject to teams meeting their milestones:

  • First-round: $10K for proof of concept
  • Second round: $100K for development of prototypes
  • Third round: $500K for low-rate initial production

Submission cycles close twice a year, on June 15th and December 15th. Click here to fill out the submission form and upload your one- to two-page proposal that outlines your technology, its application, and how you would spend the grant money if funded.  If you have any questions or would like to learn more please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
